Breastfeeding Preparation Intensive

An immersive, one-to-one programme of instruction and support with Bobbi Daly IBCLC - everything you need to breastfeed with confidence from day one

Most hospital antenatal classes cover the basics - briefly, in a group, with little time for questions. This is not that.

Bobbi's antenatal preparation session is a dedicated, one-to-one consultation designed to give you a thorough, honest, and genuinely useful grounding in breastfeeding before your baby arrives. Two and a half hours, tailored entirely to you - your history, your concerns, your questions, and your goals.

This session can take place at any point during your pregnancy. Many mothers book in the third trimester, but earlier is never too soon - particularly if you've had a difficult experience feeding a previous baby.

What We Cover

This 2.5 hour personalised session moves through everything you need to know at a pace that works for you. There's no rushing, no checklist to get through, and no such thing as a silly question.

  • Understanding breastfeeding How breastmilk production works, and what your body is already doing in preparation. Why breastfeeding is both one of the most natural things in the world and one of the most commonly misunderstood.

  • Birth and the early hours How your birthing choices may affect feeding in the hours immediately after delivery, and how to make the most of those first opportunities for skin-to-skin contact.

  • Practical feeding skills What a good latch looks and feels like — practised with a doll and supported by video. Positioning options for different situations. How to know your baby is feeding well and getting enough.

  • Colostrum harvesting What it is, why it matters, and how to do it safely in the weeks before your baby arrives.

  • What to expect in the early days Normal newborn behaviour — feeding cues, sleep patterns, cluster feeding, and the difference between what's genuinely normal and what needs attention. Common challenges that arise in the first weeks, and how to handle them.

  • Breastmilk expression Hand expression demonstrated and practised — a skill that is useful from the very beginning, long before a pump is needed.

  • Myths and misinformation The most common things mothers are told about breastfeeding that simply aren't true — addressed honestly so you go in with accurate expectations.

  • Safe infant sleep Current guidance on safe sleeping, and how to balance this with feeding on demand.

  • Resources and next steps Recommended reading, trusted websites, and a clear picture of where to turn — and when — if you need further support after your baby arrives.

Why one-to-one matters

Partners are welcome to attend - and often find the session as useful as the mother does. Many of the questions that come up in those early days are ones a partner could help answer, if they were in the room for this conversation.

A group hospital class cannot account for your specific anatomy, your previous experience, your particular anxieties, or the questions you feel awkward asking in a room full of strangers. This session can. By the time your baby arrives, you'll have a personalised plan, the practical skills to put it into practice, and a direct line to Bobbi if challenges arise.

What Clients Say

I found my consultation with Bobbi to be very beneficial. She asked me to fill out a questionnaire prior to the meeting and to outline my breastfeeding goals. As a result we were both very clear and focused on what I wanted to achieve — no time was wasted. Bobbi spent a good deal of time coaching me, which helped me gain confidence. I would highly recommend her services.
